Christmas is nearly here ! David's now got a broken toe after trying to eject a chicken from the house ! But the ladies are repaying us with over 84 eggs per day now !! Not bad for the Winter.

Calamity Tuesday !
Well !!!!
What a day at Grewgrass ! Our new shower being fitted is the wrong type, so we have to change it , there are no wall coverings, shower unit because David got the arrangements wrong....and we have guests in at 3pm !!
Also, our photographer for our Christmas Picture is coming at 3pm , its 2.30 and I'm in B and Q !
THEN, Christine goes to put the lights on in one of our lodges, trips over the path, does a commando roll, ends up with a cut under her eye ! Her ego is still OK though.
THEN, as we shoot the photo, I have hold of the Pony and Bruce the dog,Christine has hold of a chicken, the pony moves, knocks me over, into the spindles of the decking breaking a couple and knocking plants flying !! Christine and the photographer are on the floor crying with laughter !!
I'm now having a drink ( or two) and going to bed !!

A NOT so lazeee Sunday at Grewgrass !
Phew !
Busy day here at Grewgrass ! Weather is freezing cold but clear blue skys and sunshine, ground is frozen though. Sorted out the new electric fence for my girls, got to keep them in check you know ! ( the chickens, not Christine and Gemma )Also, demolished the old bathroom in Lodge 1 nearest pond, new shower unit going in on Tuesday.
All the decs are up, all LED lights and even a Christmas tree.
On a more serious note, a young yobbo threw a rock and hit our Jeep whilst travelling on the duel carriageway yesterday, he threw it from a walkway over the Parkway so had the Police taking statements and Scenes of crime taking pictures !
It all goes on here you know !!!!

Home to roost!!!???
Our new 21 week old chickens are taking their time to find their way home after being set free! Having to catch up over 30 birds each afternoon, not the brightest of creatures, trying to force their way THROUGH the fence rather than go through a gate!Worse than kids!
Anyway, putting them on a daily training course on how to go to roost safely! Still, the eggs will be nice !

Riverside and Homeside
Just got back from the Riverside watching Middlesbrough v. Newcastle United, very cold. Result was OK, a nil nil draw, but the Boro were the better team !
On the way back in, saw two things 1. A Tawney Owl on the driveway in my headlights, holding a mouse like animal ! Fantastic. 2. The glow of the log fire in our house !
Now its X Factor !!

Lazy Wednesday afternoon ...!!!
Wednesday afternoon, just finished adding some double glazing to the bedrooms and bathrooms of both Natalie and Gemma (thats what we call our lodges, after our daughters !) Looks very nice!
New shower unit ready to go into our lodge next to the pond.
Just had our VisitBritain inspection, we continue our 3 Star rating ! This to go with our Silver Award for Green Tourism .
Last week, our new arrivals came, 90 18 week old chickens! We'll have eggs coming out of our ears soon!
This is our first blog, will regularly continue to update you all on everything happening here.

New tariff at Grewgrass
The 2008 season is coming to a close at our picturesque holiday retreat. Our new seasons tariff is now available and this year we have decided that there will be no price increases during the school holidays!
